Our Methodology
Our methodology integrates Lean Thinking, Six Sigma rigor, and the principles of Kaizen—continuous, incremental improvement. We help organizations unlock value by targeting non-value-added activities, optimizing flow, and building a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
Lean
Lean is a continuous improvement methodology that seeks to optimize processes by removing waste and enhancing value from the customer’s perspective. It originated from Henry Ford’s production techniques and later evolved into the Toyota Production System in Japan.
Although its roots are in manufacturing, Lean principles are increasingly applied across diverse sectors, including healthcare, education, and services. Key steps in Lean include identifying value, mapping the value stream, creating flow, establishing pull, and striving for perfection. By removing non-value-added activities, Lean fosters efficiency and responsiveness.
Six Sigma
Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven methodology focused on process improvement and reducing variation. It integrates tools from various quality movements such as Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Total Quality Management (TQM).
Six Sigma follows the DMAIC cycle—Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control—and uses rigorous statistical methods to reduce defects to a level of 3.4 per million opportunities. Successful implementation requires project charters, trained teams, and strong leadership commitment to achieving measurable results.
Lean/Six Sigma Comparison
Characteristic | Lean | Six Sigma |
---|---|---|
Primary Focus | Process flow and waste elimination | Process variation and defect reduction |
Approach | Visual and flexible | Analytical and data-driven |
Tools | Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Kaizen, Pull Systems | DMAIC, Statistical Analysis, Control Charts |
Origin | Toyota Production System (TPS) | Motorola Quality Initiative |
Cultural Emphasis | Employee involvement and empowerment | Expert-driven and project-based |
Speed of Results | Often quicker; incremental improvements | Slower; focused on long-term gains |
Best Application | Processes needing faster flow and less waste | Processes with measurable variation |
Kaizen: Continuous Improvement in Action
Kaizen is more than a buzzword—it’s a mindset embedded in our consulting and training programs. Whether through structured team events or everyday actions, Kaizen inspires a culture where every team member is engaged in making processes better, faster, and simpler.
Our Kaizen-based services include:
Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs)
Mistake-proofing (Poka-Yoke)
6S and Visual Management
Value Stream Mapping and redesign
Gemba Walks (go and see where the work is done)
Leadership coaching to support lean transformations
With Kaizen, we help you empower employees, improve morale, reduce waste, and drive measurable outcomes. Our consultants facilitate engaging workshops that build your internal capabilities while solving real business challenges.
